Smoked Gouda Grits
This recipe is another one introduced to me by Micah. He'd whip this up at the firestation while he was on shift and it was always a hit. It goes well with shrimp, or as a side dish.
Ingredients
- 8 cups chick broth or water
- 1 stick of butter
- 2 cup bag of cheese (Smoked Gouda preferrred, or Monterey if you can't take the flavor of Gouda)
- 2 cups of gritz (Quick gritz preferred, but regular gritz will work)
- Seasoning to taste with Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning, black pepper, and garlic powder
Directions
- Bring the chicken broth or water to a boil
- Add the butter and stir until melted
- Add the gritz and stir until the gritz are cooked
- Add the cheese and stir until melted
